Ingredients
- 1 C oil
- 2 C sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 eggs
- 3 C self-rising flour
- 6 tart green apples
- 2 T sugar
- 2 T ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 deg. F
- Grease and flour an angel food cake pan or bundt pan.
- In a large bowl, combine oil, 2 C sugar and vanilla; blend well.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in self-rising flour.
- DO NOT use an electric mixer.
- Core and slice apples. Sprinkle with the 2 T sugar, cinnamon and cloves; mix well.
- Pour half of the batter into prepared pan.
- Top with apples. Pour on remaining batter
- Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until cake tests done.
- Remove from oven and let cake stand for 10 minutes; then remove from pan onto a wire rack and let cool.
- Makes 12 servings.
