German Cole Slaw (Peggy Fumiko Sakasegawa Szanik)

8 cups shredded cabbage
1/2 medium size green pepper, finely chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped

Sauce:
3 T sugar
3 T hot water
3 T cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon salt
Pinch pepper

Mix sauce.  Toss vegetables together.  Toss with sauce.  Drizzle 1/4 cup salad oil at the very end and toss again.  Refrigerate several hours.
